50 First Dates Analysis

This is the trailer to popular romantic/comedy movie 50 first dates. This is a rom/com movie and there are many conventions to show it for example the seeing the girl across the room cliche in the trailer we see the main guy and girl in a restaurant and the guy sees the love interest across a crowded room this is mainly seen in romantic movies as its meant to be desirable. Another convention we see is the funny foolish friend, we see that the friend is attacking him to get the girls attention and he ends up getting hurt himself we usually see this is rom/com movies as we need the funny character for the comedy side to these movies. The last convention we see is the problem that then leads to a happy ending the problem being she never remembers him and has to win her back everyday. The camera shots in the scenes we see make some peoples heart melt as the scene where he sees the love interest across the room and the camera getting it perfectly to make people love this scene that much more.

The sound being used is happy upbeat music making us feel peace and has the romantic effect to the movie. We find out some information about the characters and the movie for example we now know who the love interest is and the guy going for it. We also see that the main guy loves his job and was not planning on committing to a relationship as the narrator says so. Another thing we find out is that the girl has been in a car crash and now has short term memory loss meaning she will not remember him everyday.
